About

A community where no one suffers in silence.

Supporting People With Mental Health Ltd – Uganda (.) is based in Lira and works across northern Uganda to make mental health support practical, stigma-free, and accessible. We walk with youth, women, caregivers, and trauma survivors — from the first conversation to full recovery — through counselling, community outreach, and partnerships with health facilities.

The problem we exist to solve

Why our work matters.

In northern Uganda, mental health conditions remain highly stigmatized and under-served. Many people in Lira suffer in silence because of stigma, myths, and lack of access to information. With very few trained personnel, most cases go untreated until they become severe. Youth, women, and trauma survivors are the most affected.

Our impact so far

Bridging the gap through community-based support.

. bridges the mental health gap through community-based support. In the last years we have counselled hundreds of clients, reached thousands through awareness campaigns, and linked the most severe cases to Lira Regional Referral Hospital. We aim to scale this until every person in northern Uganda has someone to talk to.
